Welcome to my blog.
I'm sure you are wondering how you got here from surfing the web. You might have been intentionally searching out a professional writer, or simply been reading blogs that lead to my humble corner of the world.
Both scenarios are very like the chain of events in my own life. If you asked me 3 years ago if I had an online portfolio with a blog, I would have said, "meh." But today? A lot has changed.
The past few months have been an ordeal no one anticipated. If you were toasting to the new year in December, only to find yourself isolated for weeks in April, with the kids terrorizing the living room by July, you are not unlike the average person living in the reality of COVID.
In the past few months, you might of found yourself in fear for your life and safety, become increasingly concerned about the health of your family, or are now facing extreme economic struggle and severe emotional distress because you or a loved one has lost a job. Believe me, I can relate, as we have all been there.
But despite the tragedy of these uncertain times, you have to wake up each morning with the intention of viewing your own life with fresh eyes. No matter the circumstances. You can either begrudge the universe for the cards you have been dealt, or you can seize the life you still have and pursue happiness with a fierceness you never experienced before.
And that, dear reader, is where Mr. Universe has plopped my once indoor-loving butt. Outside on the doorstep of change. I have started asking the right questions about what it is that makes me happy and how I can finally reach it. Making the decision to reflect and reimagine my goals has been one of the most pivotal decisions of this tragic year. So, here I am, seizing life and pursuing happiness with the written word.
In regards to content, I might speak on several topics that interest me:
Benefits of traveling for professional development
Everyday self-care and mental health routines as a remote worker
Issues in online learning and solutions for progress
Parenting in the shifting educational landscape
Micro schools, traditional homeschooling, and alternative learning
Or... I'll simply speak on my everyday experiences as a technical writer/instructional designer in Higher Ed. You never know what mood it will be each day, but I will try to stay interesting.
Thanks for joining my circle.
